The Cable Bay Adventure Park has a range of biking options to suit most riders and the best news is, it is constantly expanding.
Access to the park will become paid from the 1st of September 2024. Riding will be available during business hours for day pass holders and after hours access is also available for yearly memberships and by arrangement. Day pass holders can ride after hoursif they start during business hours and arrange for a gate exit code. Riders can bring their own bikes, sign an access waiver and enjoy some of the best Native riding in Nelson.
There are options for rental full suspension Mountain bikes as well as G3/4 trail capable E-bikes and a small selection of kids bikes. All rentals include a helmet and support in the case of a mechanical/flat/incident.
The Adventure Park offers bookable private shuttles for groups up to 5 and potentially an on-demand shuttle uplift when available. Prices are $85/pp for a 3 hour private shuttle, minimum 3 riders. For larger groups, we can run our big bus and trailer to access majority of the climb or Gravity Nelson also operates shuttles at the Adventure park - get in contact with them to book and see below for one of their regional riding experiences.
Trails are all on the Trailfork app which can be downloaded for free and this shows access routes and trail grading - there is also directional signage around the park and maps available at reception.
We are in the early stages of providing MTB shuttles as frequent departures from our base - the demand just isn't quite there yet so we are running on private shuttles only /weekend bus shuttles and an on demand service IF we have capacity for this
**On demand shuttles are not guaranteed - if you want to shuttle for a day or half day YOU NEED TO BOOK AHEAD**
The trail system has had some great new developments, really opening up to the G3 catergory with 3 trails from top to bottom linking into each other. On top of these we have 3 awesome G4 options followed by true Nelson grade 5 (think Black Diamond - double Black Diamond). The majority of the trails are set in spectacular native forest and bush with the trail characteristic's of the G4's and 5's steep, techy and rocky.
There are also great options to ride the network of 4x4 trails out to the stunning views - Bayview is the locals favorite and for those hiring E-bikes - it’s about a 15 km round trip, as well as the Fun track which is great for smaller kids and those wanting to stay on the flat.
The trails are built between us and a hearty volunteer crew that come out to the park once a week to shift dirt and make magic - we are so grateful for them!
Watch this space - more developments are always on the way!
